Rural Northumberland

Project Brief

The client wanted the house improved but not changed.  Consequently the wiring and heating had to be installed whilst leaving the original wall paper and panelling intact.  We used old cast iron radiators wherever there was no underfloor heating, and they suited the house perfectly.
Three areas had to be dealt with more radically, we moved the kitchen from the back of the house to the dining room, we opened up the middle staircase letting in more light and creating a landing, and finally we got rid of the old sheds in the back yard and created a small glass house. We also made an archway using old quoins through the middle so you could see to the view beyond.

“Jo had great sensitivity to the house and our brief. She had innovative ideas that were practical, economical and were fun, as well as suiting the style of the house. The standard of workmanship and speed from her team was excellent and we much enjoyed having them all around.”
