Project Brief
This large farmhouse was gutted. It was taken back to the brick on the inside and had the old concrete render stripped from the outside. Underfloor heating was installed everywhere bar the top floor. Four dormer windows were added, and the old barn was transformed into a huge party room. Mick made the kitchen to their specification and the plasterers put in curves and dowels on the corners.
We used the client’s own timber to line the walls of the boot room, providing a really practical surface for children, dogs and mud. The client wanted a laundry chute from the first floor directly into the laundry below so Mick built one into the landing bookcase. This project was designed with the future in mind, so ramps, space for a lift and downstairs plumbing were all installed. There is a glass balcony leading off the main bedroom and the bath is raised so you can see the view.
“We were struggling to run the project in house and from the off Jo brought energy and good ideas. She put a huge amount of character into the house; the curved corners being one of those ideas which have been much commented on. She managed the team very well.”
